Florian Humpenöder is a senior scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Germany. He studied in Berlin and Kassel, and has a background in sustainable economics and land-use modeling. He joined the land-use management group at PIK as a PhD student in December 2011. In 2015 he finished his PhD thesis on the topic of land-based climate change mitigation. Today, he is developing global-scale transformation pathways towards climate-friendly and sustainable land-use and food systems.
